IgM Distemper IFA

Comparative studies between IgG and IgM can give a better picture of where in the Distemper disease process a canine is. A low to high IgM titer paired with a negative to medium titer of IgG shows that a patient was recently exposed to virus. A negative to low IgM titer paired with a medium to high titer of IgG shows that the patient has survived the acute phase of infection and now has immunity. IgM typically spikes a week or two before IgG is even detectable.  Canine serum or plasma is the required specimen.
