NAPI Receives Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) Certification
Navajo Agricultural Products Industry (NAPI) of Farmington, New Mexico, has successfully performed Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and has been awarded certification,” announced Edward Avalos, marketing director for New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA). NAPI is a major packer/shipper/grower of potatoes and is the third New Mexico company to receive certification under the United States Department of Agriculture Audit Program.
“GAP certification allows us to sell potatoes to major grocery chains throughout the country,” says Aaron Benally, potato crop manager.
“NMDA is also working to certify other New Mexico companies by conducting training workshops throughout the state,” stated Secretary of Agriculture Miley Gonzalez. Audits are performed on an annual basis per commodity.
