Significant Change to the 2007 IATA Regulations

UN 3373 Label

On January 1, 2007, the words "Diagnostic Specimens" will no longer be authorized for shipments of biological commodities classified as UN3373. In its place will be the new Proper Shipping Name: "Biological Substance, Category B" (reference IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, 48th Edition, Section 3.6.2.2.2.2, Note).

This rule change requires that all packages of UN3373 be marked with this new proper shipping name as well as UN3373 in the diamond-shaped marking.  The UN 3373 Labeling must be affixed to the exterior of the shipment and must be placed as close to the address label (air bill, etc.) as possible.
