NMDA to host launch event in Santa Fe for Elevate New Mexico Agriculture $5 at a Time campaign

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) – A launch event for the Elevate New Mexico Agriculture $5 at a Time campaign will take place Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Food King grocery store in Santa Fe, located at 1700 St. Michaels Drive.

The New Mexico Department of Agriculture is partnering with Lowe’s Markets to host the launch event for the new campaign challenging New Mexicans to buy more locally-produced agriculture products. The Elevate New Mexico Agriculture $5 at a Time campaign aims to inspire every New Mexico household to spend $5, or increase their spending by at least $5 per week, on New Mexico agriculture products year-round.

By purchasing locally-produced agriculture products from your grocery store or local farmers market, you can be confident in the quality and freshness of your purchased goods, while supporting New Mexico’s economy and agriculture industry.

“I encourage everyone to take part in the $5 Challenge by making a conscious effort to select local products when shopping,” said New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte. “Doing so will guarantee fresher products for you and a growing economy for New Mexico!”

NEW MEXICO—Taste the Tradition® Chef Ambassadors will also be at the launch event preparing and offering food samples from recipes that shoppers can easily follow at home, using local products purchased from the Food King or other Lowe’s Market grocery stores.
